Embracing the Mind-Body-Spirit Connection at Armonía Life Design

We all want to feel whole, balanced, and connected in our lives. But how often do we pause to consider how our mind, body, and spirit are working together—or not? Armonía is the Italian word for Harmony and at Armonía Life Design, we believe that true healing and growth come from honoring the deep connection and balance between these parts of ourselves.

Our team of compassionate practitioners - Healers in Harmony - is dedicated to creating a safe and supportive space for you to explore this connection. Whether you’re navigating a big life change, healing from trauma, or simply feeling stuck, we’re here to guide you toward a deeper sense of clarity, peace, and fulfillment.

Why the Mind-Body-Spirit Connection Matters

Science is catching up to what many of us intuitively know: the mind, body, and spirit don’t operate in isolation. Research shows that mindfulness can reduce stress and improve health, trauma-sensitive yoga can help calm the nervous system, and art therapy can help us process emotions when words fail.

When we address all parts of ourselves—not just one—we create the conditions for profound transformation. This is the heart of our work at Armonía Life Design.

Meet the Practitioners Who Bring It All Together

Donna Marie Marino, LMFT

With over 40 years of professional experience, Donna Marie helps people find clarity and purpose in times of change. She blends proven therapeutic techniques like the Gottman Method with mindfulness and spiritual practices, offering a truly holistic approach.

One of her clients, navigating a career change, shared how Donna Marie’s work helped her move through fear and self-doubt by exploring her values and spirituality. With a renewed sense of direction, the client stepped into her next chapter with confidence.

Here’s how Donna Marie helps her clients integrate spiritual practices into their experience of therapy to help them rediscover their sense of purpose:

"Through my own life journey and coaching experience, I recognized that our pain and struggles often stem from what happens to us, around us, and within us—rooted in both external events and inner turmoil.

We can reframe our thoughts and heal surface-level wounds, true healing requires addressing our inner sense of self.

That’s why I was intentional about integrating spirituality into my work—because without nurturing the spiritual part of us, our soul continues to suffer.

Regardless of faith or beliefs, when our soul is in distress, it impacts our well-being. By exploring who we are divinely and aligning mind, body, and spirit, we can ease that soul-suffering and reconnect with our sense of purpose."

Colleen Daugherty, MS, MA, LMHCA

Colleen brings a unique perspective to mental health care, combining her expertise as a licensed mental health counselor and a gerontologist. With specialized training in trauma therapy, she helps individuals process and heal from deep emotional wounds, particularly those navigating major life transitions, complex PTSD, intergenerational trauma, and emotional abuse recovery.

Her understanding of aging, grief, and caregiving stress allows her to provide compassionate guidance for those navigating these challenges.  Whether working with a trauma survivor processing painful memories or a caregiver overwhelmed by burnout, she provides an integrative approach that fosters both emotional and physiological well-being.

Using a blend of Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), somatic healing, mindfulness and Biosound Therapy, Colleen helps clients release trauma stored in the body and reconnect with a sense of peace, regulate the nervous system, reduce stress, and support emotional healing.

Here’s how Colleen uses somatic healing to her her clients reconnect with their bodies and find peace:

"Many of my clients come to therapy feeling disconnected from their bodies, carrying stress and trauma in ways they may not even recognize.

Somatic healing—through techniques like Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and Biosound Therapy—creates a pathway to release that stored tension and re-establish a sense of safety.

By engaging the body in the healing process, clients often find they can move through emotional pain more effectively, experiencing relief not just mentally, but physically as well."

Lauren Cannon, LMHCA, LBSW

Lauren is a mental health professional with a passion for helping children, teens, and adults navigate life’s challenges through a blend of traditional talk therapy and creative expression. Lauren believes that therapy is a collaborative journey, tailored to each individual’s needs. Her approach is warm, client-centered, and integrative, drawing from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness while incorporating art for those who are ready to explore it.

For one client struggling with grief, they worked on a painting together to help process a loss. At first, the painting showed a dark, scary sky, but as the healing process began, the painting changed. Initially, the sun peeking in through the clouds was added, brightening the sky. At a later session, a lighthouse was painted, another symbol of her faith and support system.  She processed her emotions in a way that felt safe, meaningful, and organic; her finished artwork is a reminder that even in some of life’s darkest moments, light can be found.

Here’s how Lauren sees the connection between art and mindfulness:

“Mindfulness and art go hand in hand. When we create, we step into the present moment, allowing emotions to surface naturally. Art gives form to feelings that words can’t often express, creating space for healing and self-discovery.”

Alli Steinke, RYT 200

As a trauma-informed yoga teacher, Alli creates safe spaces where people can use movement and breath to heal. Her classes are about more than stretching—they’re about connecting with your body and calming your mind.

A participant at one of her retreats shared how Alli’s breathwork practices helped her release long-held tension. “It was like I finally let go of something I didn’t realize I was holding onto,” she said. Alli’s work is all about creating those moments of release and renewal.

This is how Alli uses breathwork to support emotional healing to help people feel more grounded in their bodies:

“In yoga we learn that our breath is prana or life force energy.  All day long we are breathing but rarely think about it. When we take time to bring awareness and connect to our life force energy in a purposeful way, we are able to support different parts of our nervous system.

Slowing our breath down activates our parasympathetic nervous system, which is when we feel calm and rested. In this relaxed state of being our body and mind can slow down enough to support our healing physically, mentally, and energetically.”

A Space for Whole-Person Healing and Harmony with the Self

At Armonía Life Design, we know that healing doesn’t happen in a straight line. It’s a journey, and sometimes it takes addressing every part of who we are—mind, body, and spirit. That’s why we offer a range of services, from yoga and breathwork to trauma-informed therapy and spiritual guidance.

Why This Work Matters

When we take care of our whole selves, it doesn’t just change our own lives—it ripples out into our relationships, our work, and our communities. As clients heal and grow, they show up more fully for the people and things they care about.
