Trusting What We Can’t Yet See: A Reflection on Faith and the End of the Year

This time last year, I found myself sitting in the middle of the newly-purchased Armonía Life Design building, surrounded by tools, paint cans, unfinished walls…and sobbing over lightbulbs.

We were just weeks away from opening, and nothing felt ready. The pressure was immense, the to-do list never-ending, and I remember standing in the lighting aisle of the store, completely overwhelmed, because I didn’t account for time to purchase lightbulbs. It seems silly now, but in that moment, it felt like everything might fall apart over that one small detail.

What I didn’t realize then was that moment wasn’t about the bulbs at all. It was about surrender.

It was about reaching the edge of what I could plan, control, or perfect; and realizing I had to trust something beyond myself. I had to lean on faith.

And as we close out this year, that word, faith, feels like exactly what this season is inviting us to return to.

What Faith Really Means

Faith, for me, isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about choosing to believe in the possibility of good, even when the evidence isn’t quite there yet. It’s about trusting that something meaningful is unfolding, even when the timing feels unclear.

We don’t talk about faith too frequently in mental health spaces, and I understand why. The word can feel tied to religion or dogma. But in my experience, faith is something deeper. It’s intuitive. It’s quiet. And it looks different for everyone.

Sometimes it’s prayer.

Sometimes it’s meditation.

Sometimes it’s that gut feeling that whispers, “Keep going.”

Faith is the thread that holds us steady when life gets messy. It’s what allows us to let go; not in defeat, but in trust.

From Lightbulbs to Gratitude

As I look around the Armonía space today, I’m overwhelmed by what has come to life.

Those lightbulbs got installed, and they’re perfect. The building came together more beautifully than I imagined. The right people showed up. The right timing revealed itself.

But more than that: the energy that now fills this space… it’s everything I hoped for and more.

We’ve built something sacred here.

Not just a therapy practice or a healing studio, but a place where people come to return to themselves. To rest. To grow. To remember what’s possible.

And none of it would’ve happened without faith; without taking steps before I knew exactly how it would all work out.

Faith and the End of the Year

December has a way of stirring up all kinds of reflection.

For many, it brings joy and celebration. For others, it brings grief, loneliness, or unmet expectations. And for most of us, it brings a strange mix of both.

There’s a natural closing that happens at the end of the year. A pause. A chance to look back on what we’ve moved through, and look ahead to what we hope for next.

But in that in-between space, there’s also a quiet invitation:

To release what’s no longer needed.

To trust what’s still taking shape.

To believe that something good is coming, even if we don’t know what it is yet.

That’s the essence of faith.

A Gentle Practice for the Season

If you’re feeling tender as this year closes out, I invite you to try something I often return to when things feel uncertain:

  1. Name what’s weighing on you. Write it down. Get it out of your head and heart.

  2. Breathe.

  3. Release it. You can pray. Burn the page. Tuck it into a journal. Whatever feels right.

  4. Then ask yourself: What would it look like to trust that I don’t have to hold all of this alone?

Sometimes, that small act of surrender is all it takes to create just enough space for peace to enter.

Thank You for Being Part of This

To each person who has stepped through our doors, supported our mission, shared our vision, or simply followed along this year, thank you.

We recently received the incredible honor of being voted Gold for Armonía Counseling and Silver for Armonía Life Design by the Fishers Community Votes. That recognition means the world to me, not because of the award itself, but because it confirms something I’ve felt since the beginning: that healing is meant to happen in community.

Armonía was never just about therapy or coaching or design. It was about creating a space where people could come together to feel seen, supported, and safe.

In 2026, we’ll be expanding that vision with groups, gatherings and retreats.

We’re still finalizing all the details, but if you’re curious about what’s coming, I’d love to invite you to join our email list so you’ll be the first to know when we’re ready to share.

May This Season Meet You with Grace

However you’re feeling as this year comes to a close, I hope you’ll give yourself permission to slow down. To reflect. To believe, even just a little, in the possibility of what’s next.

You don’t need to have it all figured out.

You don’t need to rush into resolutions.

You just need to trust the timing of your own unfolding.

And if all else fails, remember the lightbulbs.

Even the pieces that feel confusing today might turn out to be part of something beautiful.

Faith will carry you there.
